You will not be awake during any of these procedures, the all require a general anesthesia. Surgery will last between one to two hours. Your hysterectomy surgery can be performed through an incision in your abdomen or through your vagina depending on your specific situation. More than likely, you will be up and walking around the day after your surgery. It will take at least six weeks for you to start feeling like your old self again. If you're premenopausal, having your ovaries removed will initiate menopause. You cannot resume sexual activity until six weeks after your surgery.
As women we sometimes associate our uterus with our femininity and can feel a sense a loss.
